Each month we will add some additional sound samples to fully feature the extensibility of SampleTank 2 XL and how even you can make incredible music with this fine software plug-in.

Note: SampleTank runs as a DXi or VST soft synth plug-in module and requires a front-end sequencer program such as any of the following to use:

SONAR (Cakewalk)
MOTU (Mac OS)
Project5 (Cakewalk)
MOTU MachFive
Cubase (Steinberg)
FruityLoops Studio
Reason, Kontakt, Kompakt, Reaktor
(Native Instruments)
Orion Platnium
Guitar Tracks Pro (Cakewalk)
Arturia Storm (Arturia)

Any program that can utilize DXi or VST plugins (the above lists only a small sample of what's available) will permit SampleTank to run as a plug-in. We are able to patch SampleTank through all of our native sequencing programs and arrangers such as Sonar, Project5 and Guitar Tracks Pro. The process to patch this into your sequencing program is simple.

1. Install the plug-in software program. Normally when you installed a VST or DXi host program (Sonar, Project5), you needed to specify a folder where plugins would be installed.

2. Install the plug-in software at that location so that your initial host program can find it once you run it.

3. Remember you can't run the plug-in as a standalone client, you need to start the host program and then patch the plug-in through the host program in order to use the plug-in.

Again, just navigate your menus in your host program until you find something regarding patching a synth, DXi or VST plug-in. A submenu may appear to list the available plugs in that you can use. From Project5, we can simply patch the plug-in directly to one of our tracks as shown below:

One you have patched your plug-in, you are all ready to go. If you don't see your installed plug-in, you many need to reinstall it in the proper location where the host program can find the plug-ins or run a plug-in optimizer library program that can gather the plug-ins and centrally store the required information for all progams to be able to pickup when executed.

We feature another assortment of SampleTank 2 XL sound samples. These samples are from the various libraries that are contained on the 8 CDs that come with the program. That's 1,500 different instument sounds. No other package can put all of that together for the low price of $379 (US). Click the link to listen to the sample sound. Then for an added bonus, click the Song Demo link the end which will play a piece that includes those five sounds as well as a casual rhythm in a short lo-fi wav file.
